We have been up to a lot lately - as one might imagine. We are now at the end of the crazed...jar everything we can...and have now entered the "just throw it to the pigs" stage of the garden. Our first farm hot sauce a sweet and spicy success and our shelves are stocked with treats for the winter. Not to say that we won't add more to those shelves...but the accumulation sure has slowed down for the time being. We are watching those squash and pumpkins turn into deep fall colors and have felt the crunch of crisp leaves under our feet. It is just cold enough to wear a sweater and scarf and warm enough to just lay and soak up that sun. There is nothing better than soaking up the last bits of warmth created by that big ball in the sky. Autumn is my favorite season for many reasons and weekends like the past few just reinforce its beauty.

peanut butter
We are all alive, well (on the mend maybe) and just busy lately. We all had the pleasure of hosting strep, foot and mouth and now a head cold in our house over the past week. Thankfully the head cold seems like a mere hiccup after the trials of last week and we are all enjoying the perfect sleeping weather vermont has to offer. Aaron is gone off to Canada and I am with the kids - anxiously awaiting my mom to come up and give me a helping hand - yes...very anxiously awaiting. I am trying my hardest to find things that make me smile as much as possible, things that remind me to slow down...breath and soak up this beautiful life we live. I make a point to put on music before I start dinner, I let the kids have snacks before dinner and we walk back and forth from that barn more times then I sometimes feel like I am up for. I am taking time to notice Owen and his growing list of vocabulary (friends, fruit, frog, fox...oh yes...we are into the f's) and Isabelle's inherent nature to want to write words. "Can we make your grocery list together - mama let me write peanut butter - that way you won't forget like last time". I cherish these moments the best I can - and inevitably forget the peanut butter...again.

I have many photos and posts to catch up on but they will wait...for right now I just need to get through the week.

the first day
It was a good day, that first day. Not without a little bit of last minute tears, no certainly not, but it was still a good day. And now...on her official 7th day of school that girl is a pro. I kid you not. I suppose I am completely swollen with pride. Isabelle has made friends with everyone in her class, loves her teachers, loves gym class (the class she insisted she would not take part in) and is talking - to just about everyone! This is all just happening so fast and is so exciting it is hard to find the right words. But we are all so proud of Isabelle and can not wait to see what this year brings.

I on the other hand am still processing everything...as i'm sure i will do until the day she sends her own kids off to kindergarten....how does this all happen...where is the pause button? If you have one, please send it to me.

part 1: so i lost my camera cord
...you know the one that gets those images from the camera to the computer?! so sorry...that has been my (well one of my) malfunctions as of lately. We are tired to say the least with all sorts of changes happening in our daily lives....so for now enjoy a photo dump of the last few weeks. This will come in a thrilling 2-part series. Hold onto your pants.
